Hmmmmnnnnn...... yes I did spot the child - however - I am open minded skeptical on all photos, it would be interesting to know how old it was.. especially as it seems to be sepia print, also the location - some fancy architecture and decoration! My own skepticism is the size of the child v the surroundings - maybe a closer inspection of the toy may be able to date the child anyway!! Interesting to mull over a cup of coffee with!!!!

It's the top of Harriet's staircase in Charleville Castle. The photo def looks fake to me,the background just behind her is a different colour to the actual wall itself. Plus the whole image of her just looks outta place.

I agree with cat, it does look out of place and as if someone had played around with it. would be interesting to see or find out if it was real.

Yeah...looks like the stairs in Charleville to me too, and the image clearly looks super imposed as you can see the white rectangular area surrounding the girl, up against the off white colour of the original picture. Even if a better touch up had been done, I'm afraid the Exif data gives it away as a fake, showing that a touch up programme GIMP has been used.

Well done Dominica, there's something about that picture makes me think of "Comanche" by the Revels.

You are talking about the image on the top of the stairs are you? Whether it be fake or not, I dont see a girl. I see a man who isnt in proper proportion anyway so that is what makes it look fake to me. He is too small. This is what i see. A man wiht a grey beard adn wearing a sort of robe that seems to have a really wide and loose neck. He is holding a bag of some sort that is gathered up the top where he holds it. His head looks sort of bald. I am trying to see a girl but i just cant see that. Can a programme create a photo that can look see through?

*ding ding ding* we have a winner, I have been teaching myself how to use Gimp in order to learn how people fake pictures. Well done everyone who said it was a fake!! I am sure Tony could make a much better fake in which the EXIF data says it hasn't been altered but I am not quite there yet!
Fair play Dom Dom for use an EXIF reader!:clap2:

Well spotted Tracey, although it is a picture of a "ghost girl" I found on google. She is actually holding a doll and yes when I applied the second image as a layer you can set the transparency giving it the illusion of being see through!
BTW Gimp is a free photo program anyone can download no crack nessasary and there are also online tutorials (thanks Tony).

well what can I say... thanks for the tutorial!! :) It's good to see these images so that we can learn about what can be used to make fakes, I'm not a science person nor a photographer so, will always remain an open minded skeptic on all photos - unless I've taken them myself!! Thanks David for giving us to look at..... any others as it's nearly coffee time for me again!!

Tracey - I see what you see too! I went back to the photo and looked for the male figure - if you look to the left of the photo, on the stairs you should be able to see the figure of a small child which is not in proportion to the rest of the photo.... ! As for the figure you see, I had discounted that as anything.. as it looked "too thin" for it to be real!!

On a more serious note though...you and your husband were great on Tubridy! Fair play to ye. I'm not surprised that you were chosen out of all the parents to go on....Noel shone through...it was clear that Ryan thought that too. Well done to you all!
