Ok so there are a number of us doing this sort of investigating. What would you say would be the hardest hurdle to overcome? Would it be money for equipment or some of these fly by night "everything" is paranormal groups?
What is your take on this ?:057:

The "everything is paranormal groups" really, really, REAAAAAAAAAALLY brown me off!
I cannot stand the approach taken by individuals or groups like that!
They would be laughable if the weren’t so bloody annoying and destructive!:mad::mad:
As for equipment, I don’t really think that is such a hindrance!
Whereas having it is indeed a bonus; you can still get the most compelling evidence with the most basic equipment, like a camera!
But I still would like a FLIR camera!

I have to agree with leddpipe. The problem with everything being paranormal, and some people searching for souls in anything that happens, damages the work we do. For instance, we go into a house of a client being attacked in the night by an old hag, we talk to them, give them an explanation, and it actually helps them. However, someone goes in telling them it IS a ghost, then it's actually causing real psychological harm.

I would also agree with Ledpipe and Ian. Unfortunately the client can also be a big hurdle. Sometimes a client is looking to validate a ghost story or just wants to have a ghost, a losing battle I'm afraid.
One sometimes wonders if we should produce a new range of bumper stickers!

I have to add that with regard to the above post, no offence is meant. The post can easily be removed if needed.

I find the hardest hurdle is trying arrange investigations with all the team present. Sometimes it is hard trying to fit paranormal life in with normal lives.
You think you have it all perfect and then someone you really want to come along, forgot they had some important thing on.

I dont think money is a issue really. You dont need the most flash equipment to do this.

I find getting private homes, a problem. The person will tell me about the problems, I talk to them and give them a card to call, and you dont hear from them. You can tell by talking to them that they feel ridiculous talking to someone about it. Maybe they dont like the invasion of strangers into their home.

I agree on one hurdle being team members pulling out at the last minute on investigations.
I also found once or twice, if someone does have an active haunting in their home or wherever, they like it and want the ghosts to stay. The tricky part is to make them realise ghosts are not house pets! And i find this attachment most unhealthy.:nutcase:

I would imagine clients would be the hardest thing to deal with. I would envisage that when they ask for an investigation they want the truth but then again do they? I would say that apart from observing any paranormal activity that may occur the toughest job would be assessing the client as to how receptive they will be towards any results that are found. I can imagine that some will be very relaxed and accepting but with others it could be a very delicate job.

Mary we may be slightly luckier than some other groups in that regard, we have varied backgrounds, psychology, philosophy, emergency medicine, electronics, lighting and photography, loss and fraud investigation, security, quality control and other useful talents that help us deal with clients and evidence effectively

I agree with what yo had wrote in the post tony that it is great to have all the qualifications with in the group team, but i think also that if a client sees that there is also someone with in the team that is on there leval with no degrees just a open mind may put them at ease with the investiation of there home, I know i am new to all of this and in a learning stage as i call it lol, but if it was my home being investigated i might feel a bit over powered by all the inteligence by the investigators never mind the paranormal lol it is great to have all the equipment to bring to a investigation also as it reallys helps to bring a insite to everything that may or may not be going on in a location, as your own sences that are great in investigations are only small tools even if great ones they can not explaine alot of what is really going on "if there is something going on", where as the tools of today give a great insite as to what is and what is not real.

I agree with with Traze, its also nice just to have somebody whos the heart in a team, the person with no qualifications as such but who is easy to talk to besides all the scientific stuff you know. The "customer service" repersentative ha ha
