In resent times this group seems to have slowed down a lot (The web activity that is as I’m sure the members are actively working away).

The site itself is an amazing resource that shouldn’t be allowed to lay fallow that’s why I’ve decided to add a few threads in ghost interaction techniques.

These threads techniques are ones that I as a individual have used myself and thus hold a spiritual point of view, so I just want to remind any readers of these posts that this is just a point of view and a route that those who are spiritually minded may want to look down, it is in no way an undermining of any scientific procedures which I heartily welcome, I think its time we learn to look deeper into ourselves so that the “proof” we find scientifically can understood at a more insightful level, the inner and the outer worlds don’t need to be in conflict when searching for a higher goal of understanding, they can co exist and at times shine light into each others shadows so that a fuller picture can be seen.

What ever your path, what ever your belief’s, I hope this helps…

Candle Flame Spirit Detection

I grew up with this as a part of my home life; candles are often lit to shine light into the darkness in both the physical as well as spiritual worlds.

The theory that lies behind this technique is that the candle flame is living energy, its vibrational ignition upon the candles wick creates a living flame that is not only highly sensitive to the physical atmosphere but also the ether one.

Because of this sensitivity candles are often lit to give awareness of approaching energy, I first recall this being used within a circle in my own home, the candles twitch rapidly when spirits are supposed to approach.

This can be reconstituted in a more constructive way in where within a investigation a spirit energy can be invited to interact with the flame, its psychokinetic effect can give a visual representation of passing energy and awareness that there is indeed someone in attendance.

When the area is secured against gusts of air etc simply lighting a candle and standing it upon a steady table its flame can be watched to give perhaps a glimpse into the rise of any activity.

Verbal or mental suggestions to the environment energy can sometimes enhance the results.

This technique has a down fall, because of the flames nature it can cast what can be misinterpreted as moving shadows upon the wall etc so its best used in areas that there is a steady light source available.

I understand that this and the other techniques I have posted here are not the most orthodox of approaches to a haunting but may provide another view or insight into what is causing such phenomenon.

I hope this helps and if there is anything I can help with feel free to contact me.

The only problem with candle flames is that they are very sensitive to any currents in the air. We may not personally feel a current of air if it is very slight, but a candle flame will, and react to it.
Also, imperfections in the wax and wick can cause the flame to flicker violently, grow in size and generally act funny. As can particles of airborne dust that hit the flame.

If a candle flame blows very violently in a certain direction, as if being blown by an unfelt/unaccounted for wind then that constitutes more compelling evidence. If the candle flame is blown out entirely, then even better.

But when a candle flame acts "strange" the obvious explanations must be ruled out first(and it can be inherently very difficult to rule these out!):

1. Drafts
2. Peoples breath
3. Dust\particles in the air
4. Imperfections\anomolies in the wick
5. Imperfections\anomolies in the wax
6. Vibrations transmitted from the floor, through the tabe, to the candle

I have noticed this, but only really in passing as this test was never a main focus point, but when spirits, particularly impossing ones, come around an otherwise bright and strong candle flame will start to dim and diminish. Discounting of course all the natural times this happens with a freshly lit candle. But it is just a personal impression, and one I'd like to test further.

Thanks for all the information, much food for thought,
Lily

Dave i agree totaly!

The tecnique isnt used as "evidence" but in olden times to connect deeper with that form of energy as well as indicate more earthly sources of cold wind currents etc.

It can also have the added bonus of psychologicaly focusing people in the intent iof investagation.

Thanks for the two cents, its worth more then a few pounds.lol
